Exciting new flavors greeted us as The Sails, Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Cebu’s all-day dining restaurant, launched their new a la carte menu.
Known for its interactive buffet style concept, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, The Sails has added an array of dishes from around the globe to their menu, for diners who might not have the appetite for a buffet experience.
The hotel’s new General Manager, Harold Rainfroy, hosted the lunch, and I was impressed at how passionately he spoke about their new menu, very reflective of his 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Here are some of the dishes you must-try on your next visit!
Amuse Bouche. Chef’s creation of a small appetizer; Thai healthy and meaty, mildly spicy
Pumpkin Soup. This one’s a deliciously creamy and aromatic pumpkin soup that is flavored with thyme
Seafood Tabouleh. For the Lebanese, mezze is more than just food, it’s a way of life. Their take on one of the trademark dishes of Lebanese cuisine is pretty refreshing. Best eaten with lettuce or cabbage.
Wasabi Prawns. Crispy fried prawns tossed in wasabi sauce, served on a bed of green papaya and apple salad.
Garden Rosti. Rosti potato topped with an assortment of grilled vegetables and gratinated with Swiss cheese.
Penang Salmon. One of my favorites; salmon with assorted vegetables in Penang curry, steamed rice.
Bibimbap. Streamed rice topped with Korean marinated thin slices of beef, vegetables, fried egg, and miso soup.
Sukiyaki. Thinly-sliced USDA Angus beef and steamed rice with Japanese pickles
Mövenpick Ice Cream. And we just had to top-off our meal with a scoop of Mövenpick Ice Cream! It’s a sin not to. Loved the pistachio flavor.
