Yesterday, the public relations team of Starbucks Philippines flew to Cebu to launch, in the presence of the Cebu Bloggers Society, their new food items, beverages, and Starbucks card designs, available starting June 7.
Starbucks events traditionally start with a coffee tasting session. We started the night by exploring the latest featured coffee at Starbucks, the Starbucks Iced Coffee Blend.
Cebu Bloggers Society with Starbucks Philippines partners
Before the tasting, Starbucks partner Earl (from the Starbucks Axis drive-thru store), shared with us the four basic fundamentals that make up the recipe for a great cup of coffee. These are Proportion, Grind, Water, and Freshness. Proportion – The general rule for coffee-making is two tablespoons (10 grams) of ground coffee for each six ounces (180 mL) of water; Grind – grind is very critical because it determines how your grounds and hot water interact. A grind that is too fine will trap water and result in a bitter, unpleasant brew. A grind that is too coarse leaves coffee weak and without distinguishing characteristics or flavors.; Water – Clean, filtered water that is free of impurities; and Freshness – grind just prior to brewing
To make the event interactive and more personal, we were made to brew our own using the French Press. It is probably the simplest way to make a rich delicious cup of coffee. First, we poured the ground coffee, followed by hot water, which we allowed to steep for four minutes before pressing down the filter. That simple.
Starbucks Iced Coffee Blend
The Starbucks Iced Coffee Blend is not new, but it is perfect for the season. We first tasted it hot. I’m not really a coffee drinker, but with eyes closed, I took a sip, and immersed myself into its medium-bodied, well-balanced, and caramelly smooth flavors. Pouring the coffee over ice, the Latin American and East American blend became more alive when chilled. After which, we were made to try adding a slice of lemon to the coffee. The idea, at first, sounded weird to me because I only add lemon to soda, or alcoholic drinks, but I tried it anyway. When I took my first sip, I was delighted that lemon actually complemented this particular blend. Also, did you know that lemon on coffee can help you melt off fat and lose weight?
NEW! Starbucks Frappuccino Blended Beverages
I previously mentioned that I’m not really a coffee drinker, so I was very pleased upon knowing that the new featured beverages are coffee-free! The feeling of summer still lingers, and the need for cool refreshing beverages to quench our sun and humidity-induced thirst is definitely a must.
When chocolate and tea come together, they create endless chocolicious joy..
The new Chocolate Black Tea with Earl Grey Jelly Frappuccino features three delicious textures that add up to pure pleasure. The drink starts off with a layer of aromatic Earl Grey jelly. Smooth Black Tea Frappuccino is then swirled with java chips and finished with chocolate-tea powder atop fluffy whipped cream. Love! (Tall: P180; Grande: P190; Venti: P200)

It is not the first time the Cebu Bloggers Society has been part of a Starbucks launch, but it was my first time to participate because the previous launches would always coincide with an out-of-town trip. I’d say I missed a lot because the experience was educational, immersive, yet really fun. Thank you, Starbucks Philippines for always having us! XOXO
