Happy New Year, everyone! I’m sure a lot of us have not yet moved on from the Christmas season, but here in Cebu, we move forward to another big celebration.
As we chant these days: Pit Senyor! Viva Snr. Santo Niño! It’s Sinulog time once again and Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu City’s finest, joins the rest of Cebu in celebrating its grandest and most colorful festival.
From January 6-17, Marco Polo Plaza brings back well-loved Cebuano traditions, one of the hotel’s ways of letting their guests experience the rich Cebuano culture and cuisine. In honor of the occasion, they opened the special weeklong Sto. Niño exhibit, a rare antique collection of Sto. Niño images, at the hotel lobby.
Msgr. Alesna blesses the Sto. Niño Exhibit
General Manager Julie Najar led the opening of Sugbusog 2016
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was a Sinulog performance by the award-winning Sandiego Dance Troupe
Culinary guru Miss Jessica Avila with the culinary team of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. She shares that they had to invade the Pasil Fish Market as early as 1AM to get only the freshest catch!
The Sugbusog opening was marked by “pamukot” or fishing using a net by Marco Polo Plaza Cebu General Manager Julie Najar, Culinary Guru Jessica Avila, Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, and Msgr. Robert Alesna
The Marco Polo Plaza also continues its traditional SUGBUSOG and this year’s installment is dubbed as Sugbusog: Seafood Edition! For lunch or dinner, enjoy a fresh variety of fish, shellfish and crustaceans to be grilled, sizzled, fried or cooked in other creative Filipino ways (think sutukil/dampa), plus favorite Cebuano and Filipino recipes on top of the usual international buffet selections.
